It’s the BEST feeling when someone puts their trust in your services and an even better feeling knowing that they will be exploring one of the most beautiful islands in the Philippines, El Nido, Palawan!
We met up with one of our most recent customers coming all the way from Australia. We’ve developed a little Q & A so that you can understand the thought process behind choosing El Nido, the best parts of the islands and most importantly, how we did as a travel agency!
Q: Why did you choose El Nido?
A: We chose El Nido because we wanted to go somewhere to enjoy the sunshine and water while still being able to experience the Filipino culture and landmarks.
Q: What was the most memorable part of your tour?
A: The most memorable part of our tour was being able to jump off the boat at each location, enjoy a snorkel and swim with the marine life. There was nothing more relaxing than being in the water in front of beautiful, secluded islands.
Q: What was your biggest fear about El Nido?
A: My biggest fear about El Nido was that it would be difficult to navigate considering the accommodation we booked was not in the city centre. Thankfully, the people were so friendly and helpful – we felt like locals by the end of the trip!
Q: What made you decide to go with Rova Tours?
A: We have a few friends that had used Rova Tours previously, and they could not recommend it enough!
Q: How was the booking process with Rova Tours? Any benefits with booking with a travel agent rather than a discount site?
A: The booking process was so easy! It was helpful to be able to actually speak to someone and ask questions relevant to our trip.
Q: Which tour did you do? And in your opinion, which was your favourite island?
A: Tour A. Our favourite island was Shimizu Island. It was small but lovely!
Q: To foreigners who are unsure about the weather/seasons in the Philippines, would you recommend going in January?
A: We would definitely recommend going in January – the weather was perfect! Each day the sun came out, but was not too hot at all!
Q: Group Tour or Private? What was the main highlight of Group or Private?
A: Group tour. The main highlight of this was being able to meet other people from around the world. We even enjoyed a delicious lunch with our new friends!
Q: On a scale from 1 – 10 (1 = not friendly – 10 = super friendly), how friendly are the Filipino people? Was it easy to communicate with them?
A: 10 – everyone was super friendly! A lot of people in El Nido speak great English so it was easy to get around.
Q: Any restaurants, bars or café you recommend in El Nido?
A: There are so many different places to eat and drink, but our favourite restaurants were the ones located in the city centre that served authentic Filipino food and played live music. Republica Sunset Bar was also great – delicious Spanish food and lots of fun cocktails with an amazing sunset view.
Q: Any Hotels to recommend in El Nido?
A: We stayed at Panorama resort (a 10 minute tricycle ride from the city centre) and would definitely recommend. The resort is located on the beach front where it turned into a beach bar at night – so much fun!
Q: Would you visit El Nido again?
A: Absolutely!!! We can’t wait to go back
Now that we've expanded to other areas in the Philippines, we want to share our top 3 locations in our beautiful country!
Home to clear blue waters and majestic islands, Palawan could not get anymore magical than this! It may seem "bias" since we run a business that began at the heart of El Nido, Palawan, but truly I say to you - these are the reasons why we fell in love.
It is no secret that Palawan is known to be one of the best destinations IN THE WORLD, as quoted by many popular travel sites and travel vloggers, due to its remote and untouched appeal. If you're looking for a dream getaway, then now is the time to visit before mass tourism hits!
The destination has a mix of world travellers, white sand beaches and private tours, where you can enjoy a combination of meeting new people who appreciate the island and journey, as well as revel in the silent breeze of an isolated private tour (with extra fresh fruits provided by yours truly).
Palawan is famously home to El Nido, Coron, Honda Bay & Underground River, where you can enjoy swimming in clear waters, as well as exploring majestic caves with a group!
The average price for accomodation is not too expensive. You can choose to stay at a secluded island with the most beautiful and tropical hotels, or you can stay at hotels just on the mainstreet with an advantage as it's close by to a wide range of restaurants and bars. In addition to that, most hotels partner with tour agencies like ourself, so you're getting incredible value for money.
Another famous location known for its clear blue waters and white sands. Newly re-opened, Boracay has unwrapped its best features to the public just in time for Christmas!
There is ALWAYS something to do on this beautiful island. You can find yourself walking down a strip filled with interesting merchandise from customisable necklaces and bracelets, to nike slippers, to bamboo-made (eco-friendly) bags, to local street food and then onto McDonalds, Shakeys and more! The restaurants are one of the best parts of this island because it caters to all nationalities - it is truly culture-friendly.
Let's talk activities - it's a perfect island for a group of friends to simply hang out and make unforgettable memories...And we really mean UNFORGETTABLE. Jump on the jetskis with your partner, helmet dive with your friends and say hi to Nemo under water, cling onto the "flying fish" or "banana boat" (inflatable boat like rides pulled by speedboat) and so much more!
It's also a romantic little island where sunset dinners with candles and lanterns are a thing!
The atmosphere, the variety, the people and the food... If Cebu isn't already in your travel bucket list, then you might want to add that to the list!
Cebu is the largest island in the Visayas region with its own international airport, taking flights from most Asian countries. It is known for its hispanic and Chinese influences with its architecture reflecting the culture.
Unlike any other islands, Cebu is also known to be a bustling city filled with delicious restaurants, fun bars, paradise waterfalls and exciting tour activities. Activities include swimming with whale sharks in Oslob (small town in the south), visit Kawasan Falls - a trio of picturesque waterfalls into natural swimming pools and lagoons, accessible via jungle trails. You can also go canyoneering with a tour guide, lasting around 4 hours of hiking and jumping off jungle cliffs into the beautiful natural pools and waterfalls OR you can simply take the 5-10 minute walk to Kawasan Falls after a 1-hour bus ride - your choice.
If you're all about value for money, then Philippines is definitely the place to go. You're not just paying for a tour, you're meeting new people, building new friendships, tasting a variety of delicious foods and gaining unique experiences. The filipino people understand the joy of the most simplest and fun things in life, which lead to pure happiness.
